About the Building

This building was named after Mr. H.R. MacMillan in memory of his significant contribution as the first Chief Forester of B.C. and his generous donations to UBC, its libraries, to the Faculty of Forestry, and to other departments.

Location

Lost and confused? Don't worry, we're here to help. The building is found:

  • Near the end of Main Mall.

  • Near the Forestry Building @ Agronomy Road.

  • Across the Fred Kaiser Building, Faculty of Engineering.

Agora Café

"Agora Café is a student volunteer-run, non-for-profit café at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus. Our goal is to provide affordable, accessible, healthy, local and organic food choices to students and faculty members while training volunteers in food service and business management. This is done to promote the values of the Faculty of Land and Food Systems and to aid in UBC’s movement towards sustainability."

Agora Café is located on the basement floor of the MacMillan Building.

Animal Welfare Program

Passionate about research, animal welfare, and other animal-centred issues? Try visiting the Animal Welfare Program located on the main floor. 

The UBC Animal Welfare Program is one of the largest and most respected programs in the world in the field of animal welfare science. Since its inception in 1997, the program’s research has led to improvements in the lives of animals in British Columbia and around the world. The mission of the program is to improve the welfare and humane care of animals in agriculture, research, companionship and other areas through active efforts in research, education and public outreach.
